We are always looking for student perspectives and contributions to the blog! Art Beat encourages you to post personal thoughts, reflections, comments and narratives. Posts are moderated but not formally edited.

Does your piece describe a patient?
ArtBeat is committed to protecting a patient’s right to privacy and to the responsible/professional use of social media. Ideally, you will obtain written permission from any patient you write about and it is your responsibility to keep that permission on file. As an alternative, you must change his or her name and omit or alter ANY other identifying characteristics/details. Consult the blog editors/moderators if you have any questions.
How about describing colleagues and friends?
A reader should ALSO not be able to pinpoint a fellow student, resident, local colleague/IP team-member or professor, friend or family member as the subject of your writing unless you have documented their permission to post the story involving them.
Submit all works in the formats suggested below to uoft.artbeat@gmail.com; include your name, program, year, email address, phone number and the following agreement below:

This work does not infringe upon the rights of any person, nor does it violate anyone’s privacy. If this piece has been published elsewhere, I have obtained permission to have it published in ArtBeat.
Non-fiction; Short Fiction: Please send your story as a Microsoft Word attachment. Stories should be no longer than 1500 words
Poems: Please send your poems as a Microsoft Word attachment.
Visuals: Please send your image in JPG format as an email attachment. We require a resolution of 96 dpi. Please include a brief (3-8 sentences) description of your visual.
Photography: Images must be at least 2.5 MP. Images should not have watermarks or copyright notices. Please ensure that your photograph is of high quality – good exposure level, focus, editing etc. as applicable. Photographs must be sent in electronic format.
